Financial Aid for Transient Students
A transient student is a student who is enrolled at one college/university while taking classes simultaneously at another college/university. The college/university a degree-seeking student is enrolled at is the 'Home' institution and the college/university a student is temporarily attending is the 'Host' institution. Please visit or to estimate the additional costs you may incur as a result of enrolling as a transient student at a public Florida college/university.
Íò²©ÌåÓý degree-seeking students who elect to temporarily attend another college or university as a transient student may be eligible to receive additional financial aid from Íò²©ÌåÓý.
Florida public institutions
If you wish to have your transient credit hours considered in your Íò²©ÌåÓý financial aid and you are attending a public in-state institution as a transient student then you must complete a 'Transient Student Admission Application' online at . Please be sure to check the financial aid indicator when submitting your application.
Non-Florida or Private institutions
If you wish to have your transient credit hours considered in your Íò²©ÌåÓý financial aid and you are attending an out-of-state or private institution then you will need to complete a paper 'Transient Financial Aid Application' and submit it to the financial aid office.
Regardless of where you attend please be advised that:
- Your academic advisor must confirm that your transient courses are applicable towards your Íò²©ÌåÓý degree.
- You are responsible for paying tuition & fees at your ‘Host’ institution prior to disbursement of financial aid at Íò²©ÌåÓý.
- You are responsible for paying for the books you need at your ‘Host’ institution prior to disbursement of financial aid at Íò²©ÌåÓý.
- Book authorization options may be available if you have a financial hardship and can't pay your 'Host' institution books prior to disbursement of financial aid at Íò²©ÌåÓý.
- You may be required to repay a portion of your Íò²©ÌåÓý financial aid if you drop or withdraw from classes at your ‘Host’ institution.
- You must complete a FAFSA and meet all financial aid eligibility requirements in order to have your ‘Host’ institution credit hours included in your Íò²©ÌåÓý financial aid enrollment.
- You are responsible for requesting and submitting a copy of your ‘Host’ institution official transcript to Íò²©ÌåÓý. Please note that you may need to request a financial aid deferment for any upcoming Íò²©ÌåÓý classes while you're in the process of submitting your transient transcript.
- Your Íò²©ÌåÓý Satisfactory Academic Progress status may be negatively affected by the official transcript from your ‘Host’ institution or the lack thereof.
- Receiving federal Pell grant at two institutions simultaneously is prohibited.
- The additional financial aid that you may receive based upon your transient credit hours will not be disbursed until Íò²©ÌåÓý receives cost-of-attendance and enrollment verification from your 'host' institution.
- You are responsible for requesting a paper deferment from Íò²©ÌåÓý's financial aid office for your federal student loans if you are less-than-half-time at Íò²©ÌåÓý and less-than-half-time at your host institution.
Non-Íò²©ÌåÓý students who elect to attend Íò²©ÌåÓý as a transient student may be eligible to receive additional financial aid from their 'Home' institution.
Florida public institutions
If your 'Home' college/university is a public in-state institution then you must complete a 'Transient Student Admission Application' online at in order to have your Íò²©ÌåÓý transient credit hours considered in your 'Home' institution's financial aid.
Non-Florida or Private institutions
If your 'Home' college/university is an out-of-state or private institution then you need to contact your 'Home' institution's financial aid office in order to inquire about the process necessary to have your Íò²©ÌåÓý transient credit hours considered in your 'Home' institution's financial aid.

- You are responsible for paying for the books you need at Íò²©ÌåÓý prior to disbursement of financial aid at your ‘Host’ institution.

- Your 'Home' institution will make a determination regarding your eligibility for additional financial aid.
- Your ‘Host’ institution Satisfactory Academic Progress status may be negatively affected by your Íò²©ÌåÓý official transcript or the lack thereof.
- Receiving federal Pell grant at two institutions simultaneously is prohibited.
